
Journeyman - Group Project - Grade: 88%
Borderlands Zero Origin Islands is a game created by a 20 man team over 3 months, as part of the Journeyman module in my second year of studies. We used the Unreal Engine.

Borderlands Zero is a split screen co-op first person puzzle game with combat elements. It follows Brick and Lilith through an uncharted overgrown forest moving through space.

On this project I was a Game Designer, I created all of the User Interface, I was the mediator and out source manager, I also was a part of the technical team. Throughout the project I worked on:
- Puzzle design & Implementation
- Balancing
- User Interface Design
- Game testing
- Character & Animation Implementation
- Bug fixing






This is our original level design for our Journeyman project, however we quickly realised it didn't work for our game, specifically the backtracking, and the large open spaces where the players got lost several times through playtesting. So we went back and revisited the design, considering how to avoid backtracking, and looking at how to improve the user experience through level pacing and flow.

Below you can see our final level design with a more streamlined pathway, backtracking has been eliminated and the level pacing massively improved.
